Concordance Of The Divina Commedia
In the preparation of the Concordance great pains have been taken to attain accuracy of citation and reference, which is the chief essential of such a work, and I am indebted to the printers for the satisfactory manner in which they have done their part; but I do not fiatter myself that the book is free from errors. Such as have been discovered too. Late for correction as the pages were passing through the press will be corrected with the pen before the Concordance is delivered to subscribers.
I am happy to express my gratitude to several Dante scholars who have aided me with valuable suggestions in the preparation of the Concordance, especially to Professor Charles Eliot Norton and Professor Louis Dyer, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Mr. Paget Toynbee, of Oxford, England; also to the Dante Society, which has undertaken the publication Of the work, and particularly to one member of the Society who has generously become responsible for any pecuniary loss that may be incurred.
